Julie has been practising Dietetics for over 10 years and has experience in both private practice and hospital settings. Julie’s qualifications include:

  • Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Marketing (University of Canberra)
  • Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics (University of Canberra)

Why see a Dietitian

Dietitians provide practical and personalised dietary advice to assist individuals prevent and manage many health conditions.
Dietitians are qualified health professionals recognised by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), a regulatory body overseeing the provision of quality and evidence based nutrition advice to the general public.

Nutrition Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation

At Inside Out Dietetics you will receive a thorough nutritional assessment that is in accordance with DAA requirements and that is individualised and specific to your needs.
This will include but is not limited to a review of the following:

Your medical history


Medications and/or supplements


Anthropometry (height, weight, waist circumference)


Food and fluid intake

Physical activity both incidental and structured


Social and economic factors that influence lifestyle choice



Please bring with you a copy of recent blood test results

Any clinical symptoms resulting from your
medical conditions or lifestyle choices

e.g. constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, fatigue, reflux, appetite changes, taste changes, etc.

Julie will then calculate your bodies estimated nutrient requirements
based on the information obtained from the assessment.

1. Set Goals

Together with Julie you will identify dietary and lifestyle goals that are realistic and sustainable. You will negotiate strategies to help you to achieve these goals.

2. Gain Knowledge

Educational resources and tools will be used to enhance your knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition in general, and as it relates to your medical condition.

3. Health Monitoring

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation is available to support and assess progress. Reviews also allow re-evaluation of goals necessary to address a change in medical condition and/or lifestyle.


Slowing disease progression and preventing chronic illness will let you spend money on the things that really matter, and give you a quality of life that allows you to enjoy them.

Some people may be eligible for medicare rebates if they have a chronic or complex condition and are referred by their GP under Team Care Arrangements or a GP management Plan. Full payment is still required at the time of consultation, and you will need to contact Medicare for your rebate. Currently Dietitian rebates are approximately $53 a session (Item 10954). See your GP for more information or contact Medicare on 132 011.



DVA Gold Card holders will not have to pay for their visit to the Dietitian. However a referral from your GP is required. Please contact Julie to discuss the possibility of a home visit. Please note, you do not need a referral from your GP to see a Dietitian if you are a private patient.

  • All fees include any additional correspondence and liaison.
  • Payment is required on the day of your consultation.
  • A variety of payment options are available.
